So it’s the same problem in a different form. <br><br>In contrast to <em>removing bad habits</em>, what has worked is to use that time in a nourishing way to figure out how to <em>replace</em> those bad habits. For example, when I’ve made a habit of going for a walk after dinner (a typical time I fall into the YouTube trap) I find that there’s just no time in the day left for YouTube and instead I get a little exercise and enjoy some restorative quiet time. I try to prioritize but as the list grows, it gets harder and more overwhelming to try and defer work from the list (even though I can’t do it all).<br> <br><strong>🎙<em> Ashutosh's response:<br></em></strong>I recommend inverting your approach, instead of deciding what you’ll defer, you should decide what you will do each day or each week.<br><br>This situation is pretty similar to what software development teams face, there’s always more bug reports and feature requests coming in each day/week than you could ever tackle. It very quickly becomes counterproductive to add all of those inbound requests to your own daily list and continually defer items that may literally never be done. Software teams typically file these requests in a “issue backlog” like GitHub or Linear and then on each day/week/sprint people pull in the things they actually want to work on. The advantage to this approach is that everything starts out in a “deferred” state until you upgrade it to a “working on” status.
