Many of the alumni have gone on to become something akin to art world “household names.”<br><br>In honor of the launch of this year’s Vanguard, then, we’ve decided to take a look back at this Artsy institution. How has The Artsy Vanguard class of 2022 fared since they were featured last year? Very well, it turns out.<br><br>Those included in The Artsy Vanguard last year saw their Artsy followers increase by an average of 100% in the year since they were featured, compared to just 15% for the top 1,000 most-followed ultra-contemporary artists on Artsy. Vanguard artists from 2022 also saw the average number of inquirers for their artworks on Artsy rise by 67% year over year since they were featured.<br><br>In the secondary market, too, these artists have experienced increased momentum: The total sum of prices for works sold at auction for 2022 Vanguard artists grew by 375% year over year after their inclusion. In 2021, the artist was featured in a number of group shows at galleries including <a href="#" style="text-decoration:underline; color:#000; font-size:16px"><b>Gillian Jason Gallery</b></a>, <a href="#" style="text-decoration:underline; color:#000; font-size:16px"><b>Ed Cross Fine Art</b></a>, and <a href="#" style="text-decoration:underline; color:#000; font-size:16px"><b>Timothy Taylor</b></a>, which started representing her in 2022.<br><br>Since being featured in last year’s Vanguard in November, though, Longe has broken out as a bona fide art world star. The artist was profiled in <em>Vogue</em>; chosen by King Charles III to paint a portrait of Jesse Stephens MBE in an exhibition on the Windrush generation; and had a buzzy solo show at Timothy Taylor (as well as a sold-out solo booth with the gallery at <b>Frieze Seoul</b>).<br><br>At auction, prices for Longe’s works are climbing ever higher. In March 2022, Longe’s work made a strong debut at auction, when <em>Striped Collar</em> sold for £52,920 ($69,881) at Phillips in London. In June 2023, <em>Self-Portrait</em> (2021) sold for a staggering $138,262; and last month, the artist set another record when <em>Party Scene</em> (2021) sold for £176,400 ($214,088) at Christie’s.
